visiting the babies' homesWhile in Uganda, participating in the build of Claire House and Robyn House, Claire’s family members visited several baby homes in Kampala.  There are millions of orphaned children in Uganda.  Often the babies have been abandoned by their families due to the stigma associated with AIDS.  When their mothers die from AIDS the children have no one to care for them.  Many of the babies in the baby homes are HIV positive. Most of the baby homes are overcrowded and have little or no funding.  Some of the homes sell hand made jewelry to raise money for medicines and food for the babies.  Anti-viral medications can help these children reject the virus.

In August 2007, while participating in the building of a teacher’s home in Bbira village, Faye Fraser purchased a number of items on behalf of the Claire foundation from the Bulrushes Baby home.  The jewelry and handicrafts she brought back will be sold or raffled at Claire Foundation fundraisers to help raise money to support the children in Claire House and Robyn House.
